What we set up

What the analytics setup covers

  1. GA4 and Tag Manager

We configure GA4 through Google Tag Manager: events, key events, parameters and tidy accounts and permissions.

  2. Consent Mode v2

We connect your consent banner to Google tags. Since March 2024, Google has required Consent Mode v2 from EEA advertisers who want to measure conversions and use remarketing.

  3. Server-side tracking

A server-side GTM container sends data to GA4, Google Ads and Meta through your own domain. Measurement is more stable, and you control what data reaches each tool.

  4. Ad conversions

Google Ads conversions with enhanced conversions, plus Meta Pixel with the Conversions API and event deduplication.

  5. Store and forms

WooCommerce events — product, cart, purchase — as well as form submissions and clicks on phone numbers or e-mail.

  6. Reports

A Looker Studio report with traffic sources, enquiries, sales and customer acquisition cost in one place.

Scenario

From a click to a report

  1. The user makes a consent choice

  2. The site sends an event

  3. Server GTM tidies the data

  4. GA4, Google Ads and Meta receive the conversion

  5. You see the result in a report

When it is worth it

When should you fix your tracking?

When GA4 shows different numbers from your store or CRM, campaigns optimise for the wrong conversions, your cookie banner does not pass consent to Google or you do not know which source brings enquiries.

Without accurate measurement, Google and Meta ads learn from incomplete data.

Measurement and privacy

Measurement + consent + ads

Server-side tracking does not bypass consent: when a user declines, data is limited according to their choice. The wording of your privacy policy and the legal basis for processing are best agreed with a lawyer — we handle the technical implementation.

Implementation

How we set up analytics

  1. 01

    Tracking audit

We review accounts, tags, consent, duplicate events and gaps between GA4 and your sales.

  2. 02

    Measurement plan

We agree on the list of events and conversions and which data goes to which tools.

  3. 03

    Build and test

We configure GTM, Consent Mode and the server, and check every event in preview mode and DebugView.

  4. 04

    Reporting and care

We build a report, show you how to read it and keep tracking working after changes to the site.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about analytics and consent

What is Consent Mode v2?

It is how your site tells Google about a user's consent choices. Version 2 added the ad_user_data and ad_personalization signals. EEA advertisers need it for measurement and remarketing in Google Ads.

Does server-side tracking bypass the cookie banner?

No. The server respects the user's decision: without consent, data is limited. You get more stable measurement and control over your data, not a way around consent.

Do I need a GTM server?

Not always. For a small website, a well-configured GA4 and Consent Mode are often enough. A server makes sense for a store, a larger ad budget or many tools.

Why does GA4 show less than my store?

Some people decline consent, some block scripts, and GA4 and your store count events differently. We show where the gaps come from and fix the ones caused by setup errors.

Will it work with our cookie banner?

We work with popular consent banners and with WooCommerce. If your current banner does not support Consent Mode v2, we will advise what to change.

How long does the setup take?

It depends on the number of events, ad accounts and tools. We give a timeline after the tracking audit.
